Dry Dock Machinist/ Marine Machinist

 40 hours per week


  • Job Summary

The Dry Dock Machinist is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, and fabrication of mechanical components and machinery on vessels undergoing Dry Docking. This includes propulsion systems, pumps, valves, shafts, bearings, and other marine mechanical systems.


  • Qualifications/Education:

    NV3/HND or equivalent required.• Vocational training or technical certification in Machining or Marine Engineering required.Experience:• Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a machinist in a Dry Dock or shipyard environment.• Proven experience working with marine propulsion systems and auxiliary equipment.

 


Supervisor of works

 40 hours per week.


  • The Supervisor of works is responsible for supporting the Foreman and GM around supervising the on-site Engineering team. This includes managing the Engineering team on all planned and reactive maintenance needs on site, ensuring the equipment needed is available and ensuring that downtime is kept to minimum. The Supervisor of works is also responsible for supporting all engineering aspects of the project work that comes into Penzance Dry Dock. Must be willing to undergo a medical and random drug/alcohol screening if required. Security clearance may be required for certain MOD projects.


  • Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

·       Qualified engineer with proven supervisory experience

·       Engineering skills (preferably mechanical and electrical with welding skills)

. People management skills

·       A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a supervisory role in a busy operational environment.


      

Welder/Fabricator – Shipbuilding & Repair

40 hours/week, Monday to Friday, with overtime as required


  • We are currently seeking a skilled Welder/Fabricator with experience in shipbuilding or marine repair to join our team at our dry dock facility in Penzance. You will be responsible for carrying out welding tasks on various types of vessels and marine structures, including fabrication, structural repairs, and modification work in accordance with industry standards and safety regulations. This is a hands-on, physically demanding role suited to someone with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.


    Essential requirements:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Welding & Fabrication or equivalent

  • Proven experience as a Welder in a shipyard, marine, or heavy industrial environment.

  • Competent in MIG, TIG, and MMA welding techniques.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols.

  • Knowledge of UK welding standards and marine regulations.

  • Good understanding of safe systems of work in a dry dock or shipyard setting.

  • Physically fit and able to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in challenging conditions.

  • Full right to work in the UK.
